Breakthrough to Independence

Breakthrough to Independence has made significant strides in demonstrating the effectiveness of treating spinal cord injury through a combination of adult stem cell treatments and a comprehensive rehabilitation therapy protocol.

The clinical study allowed for two quadriplegic young adult participants, Garrett Tanner and Terrence Cooper and two paraplegic young adults, Ashley Sisti and Jhoonar Barrera, receive adult stem cell treatments along with comprehensive physical therapy, complimentary therapies, psychosocial and cognitive services. The combined treatments were designed to support each participant in gaining enough strength and mobility to establish greater independence and a significant increase in their quality of life.

Since the clinical study began, each participant has regained varying degrees of functionality in different areas of their body – functionality that would not have been possible with rehabilitation alone.

The participants will be traveling to Astana, Kazakhstan on August 2 for a second round of treatment using two different types of stem cells.

The Stem Cell Health Alliance is in immediate needs of funds to help cover the cost of the second treatment. To make a donation to this initiative, please click on the link below.
